DIKILI, Turkey — Canada’s Emma Glagau and Ruby Sorra clinched bronze at the FIVB Under-19 Beach Volleyball World Championship with a victory over the United States on Sunday. Glagau and Sorra beat Sophie Kubiak and Bailey Showalter 2-0 (21-10, 21-16).
DIKILI, Turkey — Canada’s Emma Glagau and Ruby Sorra clinched bronze at the FIVB Under-19 Beach Volleyball World Championship with a victory over the United States on Sunday.
Glagau and Sorra beat Sophie Kubiak and Bailey Showalter 2-0 (21-10, 21-16).
“I’m so proud of the work that Ruby and I have done, and happy to know that it’s starting to pay off,” Glagau said. “It wasn’t the podium we wanted, but I’m confident the gold will be ours one day.”
The Canadians’ journey to the last four included three wins in Group D, with a round of 16 win over China’s Tong Yu and Kaiyue Jiang and a quarter-final win over Poland’s Malgorzata Ciezkowska and Urszula Lunio.
They were relegated in the bronze medal game after losing in the semi-finals to Americans Myriah Massey and Ashley Pater in a tie-break, 2-1 (27-25, 17-21, 17-15).
“It was such an amazing experience to have,” Sorra said.
Yeva Serdiuk and Daria Romaniuk of Ukraine won the gold medal.
