It’s time to get your costumes ready and get ready to make some noise: HSBC Canada Sevens are set to bring some serious rugby action back to Vancouver after a long pandemic hiatus.
BC Place will host the games in mid-September, although the City of Vancouver said Friday, July 9 that details, including the stadium’s capacity, were being finalized.
The men’s tournaments, scheduled for September 18-19 in Vancouver and September 25-26 in Edmonton, are expected to kick off the delayed 2021 World Series.
Women are expected to resume action on October 2 and 3 in Paris.
The pandemic prompted the World Series to close after the HSBC Canada Men’s Sevens in Vancouver in March 2020. A women’s event in Langford, British Columbia, scheduled for early May of that year, was one canceled tournaments.
âThe City of Vancouver is proud to welcome the HSBC Canada Sevens back to town,â Mayor Kennedy Stewart said in a press release. “The return of the Sevens is a testament to Vancouver’s global response to the pandemic and shows that we are prepared to safely host world-class events as we restart our city in accordance with provincial health guidelines.”
The Canada Sevens games in mid-September will take place after British Columbia is expected to move to Stage 4 of their ârestart planâ.
Ticket sales for HSBC Canada Sevens in Vancouver are scheduled for early August.
