The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Yuliya Kovaliv on Facebookreferring to his speech before the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development (FAAE) of the House of Commons of Canada, reports a correspondent of Ukrinform.

“Russia is responsible for orchestrating the gas crisis in Europe. If the reason for the waiver was not to allow Russia to blame the sanctions for the disruption of gas supply, it is now more than clear that 5 additional turbines, whose maintenance has been authorized in Canada soon, will be transformed by Russia into tools of humiliation. . We urge you: don’t take the bait,” Kovaliv stressed.

In his words, Putin’s appeasement logic failed to prevent the war.

“Let us not forget that since the issuance of the permit, Russia has committed a series of horrific war crimes: attacked a commercial center in Kremenchuk and the seaport of Odessa, killed more than 50 prisoners of war from Azovstal and over 160 civilians in just three weeks,” Kovaliv said. Told.

Meanwhile, according to Kovaliv, Ukraine is keen to work with European countries on measures to reduce dependence on gas.

“We are committed to helping, both by using the Ukrainian gas route, by offering gas storage facilities and by providing the EU with additional electricity that could replace up to 5 billion cubic meters of Russian gas,” Kovaliv explained.
